Privacy Policy

Coffers is a personal budgeting application. This policy explains what data is collected when you use Coffers and how it is handled.

What data we collect

Coffers collects the following categories of information:

Account information — your name and email address, provided by your identity provider (e.g. Authentik) when you log in via OIDC. We also store a unique identifier (sub) provided by your identity provider.
Financial data you enter — transactions (date, amount, category, note), income records, regular expenditures, and category spending targets. This data is created entirely by you.
Session data — a session cookie is used to keep you logged in. It contains no personal information beyond a session identifier.

How your data is used

Your data is used solely to provide the Coffers service to you. We do not:

Sell, share, or disclose your data to third parties
Use your financial data for any purpose other than displaying it back to you
Use your data for advertising or analytics

Data storage

All data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted on a private server. Data is transmitted over HTTPS. Backups may be retained for a short period for operational reliability.

Cookies and sessions

Coffers sets one session cookie when you log in. This cookie is used only to authenticate your requests. It is an HTTP-only cookie and cannot be read by JavaScript. It expires after 30 days of inactivity.

Your rights

You have full control over your data:

Access — all your data is visible within the app
Deletion — you can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from the Settings panel in the app. This action is irreversible.

Third-party services

Coffers uses your configured OIDC identity provider (such as Authentik) for authentication. We receive only the information your identity provider sends (name, email, and a unique identifier). We do not control the privacy practices of your identity provider.

No other third-party services are used.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, the updated date at the top of this page will reflect that. Continued use of Coffers after a policy change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
